Radiology

Experienced Specialists

The certified radiologists at TIM are among the leading professionals in their field, providing you with diagnostic services grounded in the latest technologies and the highest standards of medical professionalism.

Advanced Equipment

Our department is equipped with a Toshiba Aquilion ONE 640-slice CT scanner,

Enabling comprehensive diagnosis of various pathologies of the head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and limbs
This device offers high spatial and temporal resolution, allowing precise differentiation of fine structures and accurate diagnosis of moving organs, such as the heart. The scanner also adjusts radiation dose based on the patient’s weight, effectively minimizing radiation exposure.

Radiological studies are conducted on the Shimadzu Mobile Art device
While ultrasound examinations are performed on the Philips X Matrix IE 33 device.

Safe Environment

Your safety is one of our top priorities. Our team of specialists is dedicated to ensuring that radiological examinations are conducted with minimal radiation exposure and in compliance with Western safety standards.

Unique Research

CT Coronary Angiography

CT coronary angiography is performed on a CT scanner with at least 64 slices due to its requirement for high temporal and spatial resolution. The procedure is synchronized with an ECG, allowing selective imaging of the heart’s diastolic phase. Ideally, the patient’s heart rate should be below 65 to ensure a prolonged diastolic phase. he scan takes approximately 10-15 minutes, does not require hospitalization, and is associated with minimal risk of complicationsThe 640-slice CT scanner (Toshiba Aquilion ONE) offers even higher temporal and spatial resolution, allowing it to accommodate any heart rate or rhythm, use less contrast material, and reduce radiation exposure.

Statistically, about 50% of invasive coronary angiographies reveal no significant narrowing, which increases interest in non-invasive coronary angiography methods. CT coronary angiography is primarily recommended for patients experiencing chest pain who are at low to moderate risk for coronary artery disease. It is also suitable for patients with a low likelihood of needing stenting or bypass surgery, while aiming to rule out coronary artery disease and assess the risk of acute myocardial infarction. CT coronary angiography can also evaluate the patency of stents and grafts.

Cardiac CT Perfusion

Muscle perfusion is a new method that assesses the complexity of coronary artery disease

Cardiac CT perfusion is a diagnostic method that helps us make the decision whether to intervene in a narrowed blood vessel. We determine whether a specific narrowing causes myocardial ischemia, which serves as the basis for assessing the necessity of intervention. During the study, the heart muscle is assessed in both resting and stressed conditions (stimulated with adenosine). The area of the myocardium that weakly contrasts under stress is ischemic, and accordingly, the feeding vessel of this area requires intervention (stenting or bypass surgery).

Lung Cancer Screening

Lung cancer is the most common cause of mortality among cancers, with every 14th person having a chance of developing lung cancer.

Smoking is the most common cause of lung cancer. Among patients with lung cancer: 50% are former smokers, 36% are current smokers, and 14% are non-smokers.
All tumors start small, so early detection offers the chance for effective treatment!

In August 2011, the National Cancer Institute of the United States published the National Lung Cancer Screening Study (national lung  screening trial – NLST)

The study compares low-dose CT scans with X-rays in high-risk smoker patients, demonstrating that CT scans can reduce mortality by 20% compared to X-rays.

According to this study:

  1.  The best method for preventing lung cancer is to quit smoking or to avoid starting altogether.
  2. An annual low-dose CT scan is recommended for preventive screening:
  • For former and current smokers aged 55-74 years.
  • A smoking history of 30 pack-years (for example, if a person has smoked one pack per day for 30 years, or two packs per day for 15 years).

Brain perfusion

Acute stroke An acute stroke is the death/infarction of the corresponding brain tissue caused by the thrombosis of a cerebral blood vessel.

Thrombolysis The patient is administered an intravenous thrombolytic agent, alteplase (tPA), which restores blood vessel patency.

Thrombectomy  is the removal of a blood clot from the damaged blood vessel through a catheter inserted into the blood vessels.

Brain perfusion is a very important procedure in the management of acute stroke.

In the stroke center, acute stroke treatment is carried out with thrombolysis and thrombectomy. It is typically performed within the first 4.5 hours from the onset of symptoms. It was considered that after 4.5 hours, the risk of hemorrhage increases.

The DAWN and DEFUSE 3 clinical trials have shown that brain CT perfusion can extend the treatment (thrombectomy) window up to 24 hours from the onset of symptoms. In case of delayed presentation (6-24 hours after the onset of symptoms), patients undergo brain CT perfusion, which evaluates the ratio of reversible and irreversible brain damage areas, as well as the volume of irreversible damage. This allows for the selection of patients with a low risk of complications who can undergo mechanical thrombectomy.

The study is successfully completed only on modern equipment with a 16 cm detector, such as the 640-slice Aquilion One Toshiba.
